Cotton Family

The first European settlements in Maryland were made in 1634 when English settlers created a permanent colony.

John Cotton was born on March 16, 1748.

He married Mary Ricketts on June 2, 1774.

At first, John and Mary settled in Barree Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.

In 1788, he was in John Little's Company.

Sebastian Frogg sold 125 acres in Barree Township to John Cotton in 1789.

At the time of the 1790 census, the Cotton family was in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.

Two of their children married children of John Healy and Sarah Wilson.

John died on July 15, 1818, in Mount Hope, Ohio, at the age of 70, and was buried in Holmes, Ohio.
